This used to be a Bronze Age village |

This used to be Stonehenge |
What's this all about?
- The British government wanted to construct a new 4-lane highway through the Stonehenge World Heritage site and its surrounding landscape
- Less than 20% of the highway would have been in a tunnel
- Over 80% would have been bulldozed at ground level or in deep cuttings
- The stone circle would not have been damaged or destroyed
- But the highway would have been massively destructive of the World Heritage Site around it
On Thursday 6th December 2007, the Stonehenge tunnel scheme was officially SCRAPPED!
